The 42-year-old was at work when his dog suffocated after getting his head trapped in the foil wrapper

The 42-year-old man was working when his dog tragically passed away after accidentally getting his head stuck in a foil wrapper. Mr. James shared that he had entrusted his beloved pup Leo with his parents while he was away at work, but unfortunately, Leo managed to get into some trouble. Leo discovered a bag of half-eaten crisps in the kitchen cupboard, took it outside, and somehow ended up with his head fully inside the bag. Despite his efforts to free himself, the foil wrapper tightened around his neck, leading to a heartbreaking accident. Mr. James, who resides in Prenton, Merseyside, expressed his sorrow over the loss of his furry companion in such a sudden and unfortunate way.

Leo’s owner discovered him munching on a nearly finished bag of chips in the pantry. “When my parents finally found him, it was already too late. It’s so sad and unexpected,” he shared. “It’s shocking how something as harmless as a snack can turn into a dangerous situation.”

In the aftermath of Leo’s passing, his human has been grappling with the heartache of his absence, feeling as though he has lost a cherished family member. Mr. James described his beloved pup as not just a pet, but a companion who accompanied him everywhere. “He was my constant companion, my best friend. I loved him dearly,” he fondly recalled.

Sharing his devastation on Facebook, he wrote, “I am here in bed feeling absolutely shattered after discovering that my puppy Leo passed away in a tragic accident. I don’t want anyone else to endure the same heartache I am feeling.” Leo was more than just a pet to him, he was a companion who brought joy and love into his life during the four months they spent together.
Describing Leo as a beautiful companion who accompanied him almost everywhere, from rugby matches to work and even on vacation in Ireland, Mr. James shared how much he cherished their time together.

His owner said the grief was like 'losing a family member' and said Leo was his best friend

The owner expressed feeling the loss of his beloved dog, Leo, as if he had lost a family member. He emphasized the importance of being cautious with packaging such as crisp and cereal bags to prevent pets from getting access to them. Cutting the bags into pieces or locking them away out of reach are simple yet crucial steps to ensure the safety of our furry friends. So next time you indulge in some snacks, remember to take precautions to keep your pets safe, even if it means putting crisps in a bowl before leaving the room.
