Erin Wilson, residing in Trinity County, California, is the proud parent of Eva, a 2.5-year-old Belgian Malinois. During one of their peaceful walks by the river, their pleasant outing suddenly turned into a perilous ordeal.
As per the Sacramento Bee report, Erin had a close encounter with a mountain lion that lunged towards her, growling and tearing apart her jacket. Being all alone in that situation, Erin quickly called out for Eva’s help, and thankfully, the faithful dog came running to her rescue.
Erin shared that Eva bravely faced off against the mountain lion, delivering a powerful blow that momentarily distracted the big cat from attacking her. Unfortunately, the mountain lion ended up grabbing Eva’s head, causing significant harm and pain to the loyal dog.
In a quick response, Erin stepped up to defend her beloved pet, Eva, from a huge cat. Armed with wood and rocks, she fought the wild animal and even sought assistance from a nearby driver who used pepper spray to disarm the attacking cat. Eva was immediately taken to the hospital, and despite the initial shock, the courageous dog managed to survive. To help cover Eva’s medical expenses, Erin created a GoFundMe page, and she reports that the hero dog is on the path to recovery with optimistic prognosis from the vets.
The dog named Eva was injured while saving her owner’s life from a mountain lion attack. Although she is still in critical condition, the pressure in her skull needs to decrease before she can recover. Eva suffered two skull fractures, a punctured sinus cavity, and edema around her eye that has impaired her eyesight. California Department of Fish and Wildlife Capt. Patrick Foy believes that the dog saved her owner’s life and Erin, the owner, acknowledged Eva as her hero. This event serves as a reminder of the loyalty and devotion that dogs possess.
