Harold’s story commenced at a nearby puppy mill, where the breeding of countless puppies for profit takes place while mother dogs suffer in cramped cages. This practice of overbreeding leads to detrimental health problems such as blood disorders, deafness, heart and kidney diseases, and even permanent paralysis, affecting the helpless animals.
Harold entered this unforgiving world with a tough road ahead of him. Despite being born, he was quickly sold off to an unassuming purchaser for a whopping $7,000. Although his new owner initially gave him proper care, Harold soon suffered from an upper respiratory infection and faced an even more challenging obstacle. Due to the puppy mill’s excessive overbreeding, he developed a spinal curvature, akin to scoliosis, which left him unable to use his hind legs.
Harold’s new owner found themselves in a tough spot and had to make the difficult decision of surrendering him to Dallas DoggRRR, an animal rescue organization, when they couldn’t take care of him anymore. The rescue organization quickly took Harold to an emergency animal hospital where he faced a tough battle to survive. Harold struggled to eat without throwing up, and he had to undergo emergency exploratory surgery. The surgery revealed several internal issues such as ulcers, intestinal strictures, swollen lymph nodes, elevated liver values, and gastric fluid present in his abdomen and esophagus, making his fight for survival even harder.
Even though Harold went through a lot of difficulty and suffering, he managed to become a beloved member of the Dallas DogRRR community. He became a symbol of perseverance and courage, and his unwavering determination secured him the position of a mascot for the rescue organization and an ambassador on social media.
